ACS Gas: Appliances

Who is it suitable for?

Suitable for existing gas professionals who already hold Core Domestic Natural Gas (CCN1) and have experience under the Supervision of a GasSafe registered engineer for the relevant appliance.

Course programme

Candidates will be assessed in the following areas applicable to the appliance:

Boilers (CENWAT)

• Completing the installation and commissioning of a gas boiler.
• Identifying gas safety components.
• Installation, servicing and maintenance in accordance with the manufactures instructions.
• Operational and performance check of an instantaneous water heater, including temperature rise and flow rate.

Cookers (CKR1)

• Installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance of domestic gas cooking appliances.
• Range of appliances covered – Free standing and slide in cookers, built-in hotplates, built-in/under ovens and grill units.

Fires (HTR1) 

• Installing and commission an appliance.
• Attending to breakdown and diagnosing gas safety faults.
• Carrying out a service and identifying any installation or component defects.
• Range of appliances covered – Open flued gas fire (radiant/convector), open flued inset live fuel effect gas fire (ILFE), open flued decorative fuel effect gas fire (DFE) balanced flued gas fire and balanced fan assisted wall heater. 

Expiry

5 years. Candidates can undertake the re-assessment of any element up to 6 months early without losing any time (MOT Style). Previous certificates must be produced at the time of assessment as evidence.
